CASTLE OF CARLO ALBERTO OF SAVOY

The first information about the Castle dates back to 1500. After various changes of ownership, the Caissotti family with Carlo Luigi Caissotti, who had become Marquis of Verduno, rebuilt the castle with the project of the famous architect Filippo Juvarra in 1739.

A century later, in 1838, King Carlo Alberto of Savoy purchased the Castle to include it in his Agency of Pollenzo project and entrusted the management of the estate of Verduno to the General and oenologist Paolo Francesco Staglieno who experimented with new methods of vinification of the Nebbiolo grape, laying the bases for modern Barolo.

The House of Savoy sold the property of the Verduno Castle in 1909.

Since 1953 the new owner has turned the castle into a charming hotel and well-known restaurant, while still preserving the beautiful authenticity of its rooms.
